The opening for “Diasporic Narratives in Stitch” is at 6 p.m. on Wednesday\, October 12. For a viewing appointment\, call 919.516.4027 or email vltyler@st-aug.edu.\n\n\n\nLewis says of her quilts\, “I want my quilts to evoke a feeling in someone else. Quilting takes me to another place. It is totally absorbing. If I cook while I’m quilting\, I always burn the food because I get lost in the quilt and forget everything else.” The mother of a son\, Shawn Lewis\, Ph.D.\, and grandson\, Samuel Lewis\, sees her quilts as a legacy for her family and community. Her grandson will be off to college soon. “I asked him\, ‘What am I going to do when you’re gone?’ He said\, ‘You’re going to quilt\, or you’re going to dance! ‘”\n\nLearn more about Linda Lewis here.
