DESCRIPTION:The Alfred Street Baptist Church and the White House Initiative on HBCUs (Initiative) present the Third Annual Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs) Presidents Forum geared to enhance HBCU engagements in federal research and contracts.  \nTheme: “Engaging\, Enabling and Empowering HBCUs to leverage and maximize the benefits of grants and government contracts.”  \nPurpose: We want to hear from you HBCU leaders! To understand the challenges and barriers that your institution and other HBCUs face in securing research funds and performing federal government contracts.  \nEvent Kick-Off: Friday\, February 19\, 2021  \nEvent Time: 9:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. EST  \nEvent Cost: Free  \n*Registration Link: Please find the registration link here. All attendees must register in order to participate in this event\, the deadline to register for this event is Friday\, February 12th.  \n*Please note this event is exclusive to HBCU Presidents\, Administrators\, Faculty/Staff and Government Officials  \nEvent Location: Virtual Zoom (Empowered by Deloitte). The zoom link will be provided upon your registration.  \nDid You Know? There is over $500M that is accessible to support non-medical research through the federal government?  \nThis event is designed to serve as a collective sounding board to help facilitate and provide information on the following topics:  \n\n• Funding Availability within the government for HBCUs; \n• Overcoming obstacles in working or exploring federal & state grants/contracts; \n• Benefits of teaming and collaborating with other HBCUs and UARCs; \n• Expanding innovation and technology with the private sector; \n• Leveraging mentoring opportunities; and \n• Establishing a Contracting Center of Excellence (COE) for your institution. \n\nIn conjunction with the Initiative’s\, HBCU Contracting Academy Pilot\, we strive to dispel contractual myths and explore best practices that are conducive to the overall mission of each key stakeholder. To  \nfurther extend our commitment to HBCUs\, the Initiative and Deloitte will host free and tailored monthly business accelerators & virtual learning labs to address the “Who\, What\, When\, Why & How” on government contracting to best suit your institutions operating model and infrastructure. During this series\, you will hear from military General Officers\, Senior Executive Service (SES) leaders\, Program Managers\, Corporate Vice Presidents and Principals who will provide world class\, coaching\, mentoring and best practices to help expand your university from a people\, technology and revenue perspective. Guest presenters may have funding and/ and existing programs geared to support strategic collaboration with academia.  \nHow will participating in this series help my school? Increased educational awareness; reviewing existing staffing model deficiencies to employee students; and/or refreshing or creating deployable programs that help to generate new revenue streams. Other benefits include:  \n\nResearch recognition \nIndustry collaborations \nJob creation (students and faculty) \nAllows each HBCUs to define\, adopt and own their operating models\, needs\, capabilities and investments \n\nWhy HBCUs? HBCUs enable diverse people\, thoughts\, solutions and innovations for a more collaborative approach to solve on-going client needs. Funding opportunities\, such as contracts\, other transactional authority (OTAs)\, crowd sourcing and scholarship opportunities have drastically increased\, due in part to\, current social impact movements\, diversity\, equity and inclusion initiatives and other political and corporate strategies. Many institutions desire to enhance their technical capabilities\, expand curriculum offerings and gain access to real-time funding\, but often lack the time or resources to do so. This all-inclusive event will help to eliminate time-consuming research and clarify addressable concerns posed by HBCU leaders. Moreover\, we want to equip you to access information and resources readily to help determine the best approach for your school confidently and knowledgeably.
